Chapter 17: Trollfather

New chapter is up–TROLLFATHER! Please enjoy!!

Got some news about the physical books, and unfortunately it’s that the whole thing is cancelled! Here’s what I said on bluesky:

In 2023 I signed with the guys from Vault on an imprint called Hard Candy Press to republish IRO from the beginning. In all that time they made no progress, missed every deadline they ever gave me & communicated extremely poorly. The contract is cancelled (as is by all appearances Hard Candy itself). Suffice to say it was really aggravating dealing with them, and there’s no plans for a physical edition at the moment.

If you’re an artist I’d warn you about doing work for Vault, from my own experience and other stories I’ve heard since, they’re not serious. I don’t have much to add except that I’m glad it’s over. I feel so much relief, what a stupid waste of time, man alive.

I also said I’d like to find a new publisher, but most of them seem to be going down in flames or just running kickstarters themselves at the moment so it’s hard to see what they’d even have to offer me. That’s fine by me; I’ll keep my head down and work on my comics, and we can think about doing another print run when the world is in a different mood.

Be back with some new Adult High School pages in a couple weeks!

Heavy Metal Magazine just re-launched after a 2-year hiatus. The old Heavy Metal used to publish adult comics (even back in 1977) independently from the magazine itself. Not sure if the new Heavy Metal staff would be up to the same challenge, but it might be worth exploring.
